I thought a lot about how much I've been comparing the skills
I've learned from you to the skills and things I've learned in caring for my son. And not just
comparing them, but what I've learned, I've been able to intermix and use on both my
animals and my kids. It's an amazing connection. You are so different than most "trainers" and your methods really work and
that's the difference. Because you are about reading the dog and being on the dog's
program as opposed to trying to force the dog on my program. -Becca

Meet Gina Micciulla - Master THIRD WAY Trainer

My relationship with dogs started as a young child and like most dog people, I adore dogs. Unfortunately communicating with them can be frustrating, like communicating with someone who speaks another language. The desire is there, but how do you reach a common ground?

I once believed I had to dominate my dogs and try to be their pack leader, I came across an old business card that titled me as the "Alpha dog", however, I often found myself challenged and frustrated trying to maintain that role. I was following the ‘experts’ and not my own heart. I needed to change. I needed to find a way to create and maintain a more balanced relationship with my dogs. Since I believe it is my responsibility to remain open, experiment and evolve I have researched and tried many different methods and approaches only to find that I no longer believe focusing on one methodology or one way to achieve a goal works. I now believe there are many paths to ones goals and desires, and developing a map or blueprint for success should be the focus.

When I was introduced to a different learning theory in 2000 called THE THIRD WAY, developed and created by my mentor and colleague Chris Bach, I found a new map. It completely changed my perspective about being with dogs and even my approach to communicating with toddlers. I have raised my son using the same principles I now use when building my relationship with dogs, and as a result, one of my son’s first words was "yes", not “NO”!
Based on teaching what to do, instead of what not to do, I have developed a sequential approach that builds a foundation for success. When I interact with dogs, and my son, I focus on eliciting voluntary behavior without a bribe or correction, which allows them to be who they are, perfect. I call this The Fourth Way.

My Dream is for humans to put as much thought and energy into raising a dog as they do into their own career and personal fitness; dogs don't happen to you by accident any more than children do. As a matter of fact if you are reading this prior to adopting a dog you are part of the 2% of our society that are planning ahead.

My mission at Unleash Yourself  is to teach you the principles for improving communication with dogs, and my goal is that you will never say “NO” to your perfect pup again.

Except maybe by accident ;)
Peace,
Gina
