What do you think this body posture is conveying to your dog?
"Tough but tender." "Sweet but strong." "A big heart with a little attitude." These are just a few of the words to describe Gina Micciulla.
I did not originally find myself in the business of dogs (Yes, it is a business). Instead, I spent 17 years in the radio biz, moving from city to city for different jobs. That career path took me from Phoenix to Chicago to Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. After many years of constant moving, quality of life became more important and that same career brought me to Portland where I worked nights with the #1 radio show on KUPL and mornings on KBBT until 2000.
It wasn't uncommon for me to be scolded for talking too much about dogs on the radio... therefore, it was only natural that I would end up the wonderful Behavior and Trainer that I am today. During my 17 year career I spent much time volunteering at no kill shelters, guide dogs and attending many seminars and learning from
different trainers and behaviorists all over the world.
I went through a vigilante phase, where I would see people… what I consider abusing their dogs… after almost being shot and beat up for confronting people. I decided this was not an effective way to help the good of the animal and human relationship. So I got myself
“in-check” and decided to be more productive in my cause and left my corporate career to change the dog/human relationship, one person at a time. I am not motivated by force, or bribery (which is why I do not do either my dog or my son). I decided to become an entrepreneur. I found personal investors (the banks wouldn’t touch me) to help support this new adventure that started in 2000. I began walking and pet sitting after being let go from my Portland morning radio gig. My investors and first paying clients where listeners and advertisers of my radio shows (I am an opportunist). I quickly started studying again with many trainers including my mentor for the last 7 years Chris Bach. Now 7 years off the air and listeners from my old morning show(1998-2000) still contact me for training or behavior solutions for them and their dogs, and that is because of the impact that I made “on the air” and continue to do today “off the air”. (However I am coming back to the airways soon, with a different kind of show)
I have and continue too invest much time, energy and money in my education, while continuing my evolvement as the effective, intense, passionate behavior educator and trainer that I am today. I have done all of this and continue while raising a new baby and running a new dog daycare biz. Which I sold it in 2005, to my intern, Cinzia Romoli and I still use the facility today to hold my sessions. I taught classes out of my garage before opening the daycare and training facility in 2000. Having the dog daycare, I was able to work with many, many different types of dogs and their humans. I have an undying inner passion that seems to push me... even though I originally struggled doing things “out of the box” with my unique teaching style and methods instead of what mainstream considered “the right way” to do it all!
You can’t even imagine what goes on “behind the scenes “in this unregulated industry” (screen play coming soon). Although my belief system has progressed, from the old school thought of force to the current trend of positive reinforcement, going from beating our dogs into submission to bribing and loving them too much. My methods are the balance that is greatly needed to prevent the continued widespread mislabeling of "aggressive and dominant dogs ". Although proven magical, THE THIRD WAY theory and techniques will challenge the ideas held true by the mainstream especially that of the wolf pack model. So, be prepared for an eye-opening experience. There is no pecking order or alpha dog here... only enhancing the relationships between humans and dogs.
I coming back to the air waves with my new radio show “Live & Unleashed”! Are you ready?

Animals are Receivers of Energy
Remember those times when you where sick or just "blue" and your pet came to curl up with you and "made you feel better". Animals will take on the energy of their human companion. The four-legged's who walk in balance, they are very sensitive to the vibrations they receive from earth. Observe their behavior to learn ways to survive. Their behavior can also signal warnings of upcoming storms or natural catastrophes. Some four legged animals are willing to receive humans and their belongings on their back for transport.
Two-legged's are human in form and in the center of the animal world to be transformed, to learn balance and harmony from their animal kinfolk until they are able to determine with full responsibility what it is to be truly human. This has been an evolutionary process throughout history.
